THIS MONTH'S FEATURED INDEPENDENT ARTISTS

Robin Brock - MONSTERS

Her highly anticipated third release is an early candidate for best indie rock album of 2010. From the opening guitar riffs of the title track that grab you and don't let go, MONSTERS caresses you and takes you through a 40 minute musical odyssey.

Cut from the same rocker chick cloth as the likes of Lee Aaron and Darby Mills, the comparisons between them and Robin Brock are inevitable, and for good reason. Listening to several of the killer vocals on MONSTERS, you can't help but imagine what a duet with either of those Canadian legends would sound like. And those images are goooood.

Eugene Ripper - PUNKS & PUSHERS

With the release of his fourth album PUNKS & PUSHERS, Eugene Ripper has put himself on the Canadian rock and roll map with one of the most diverse albums of 2010.

It's eleven tracks physically divided into four separate categories - a recipe that's spiced with ingredients that, if left to anyone less talented, wouldn't work. There aren't many artists today who can take a simple melody or a chord or two and make it into something special. Ripper has that talent, having quietly gained a reputation as one of Canada's most respected songwriters.
